The dungeons actually resemble dungeons rather than those "draw-a-line-through-the-mazes" papers that you'd probably get as a child, the treasure chests don't respawn every time you leave the dungeon, which means the game designers could actually put valuable stuff in there without it breaking the game, not to mention that the game designers took the Dragon Lord fight, a fight that basically amounted to a drunken slap fight in the NES version, and actually managed to put some amount of strategy into it by making his attack pattern completely fixed. Heck, you can do it in less than an hour if you take advantage of a glitch where you kill the Dragon guarding Gwaelin, then kill yourself rather than talking to Gwaelin, causing the Dragon to respawn each time you do it.īut yeah, putting aside my personal feelings, the remakes are the objectively better games. At least with the NES version, you get that wonderful sense of accomplishment after you FINALLY finish your grinding session of 2-3 hours, while with the GBC version, you can pretty beat THE WHOLE game in around that amount of time.
